Many people have to give a speech or address from time to time, e.g. as a managing director, board member of an organisation or at a wedding. Most of us don’t feel particularly comfortable with this task. As a speechwriter, I can help! I won’t be able to recite the speech for you, but with your information and in close cooperation, I will create a template text that gives you confidence, contains everything important and really suits the situation and your personal style.

And with that, I would like to answer the initial question: What makes a good speech? I think it is above all authenticity. This is also how I understand my job as a speechwriter: I not only try to understand what you want to say but also hear how you can say it without having to pretend. That’s why there’s nothing wrong with having your speech written by a professional. If you are not comfortable writing speeches, professional support will make it even easier for you to say exactly what you want to say. So basically, a good speechwriter will find your words.

Depending on the occasion, a speech can be especially good if it is particularly funny or particularly solemn. Depending on the audience, the choice of words can be more sophisticated or more casual and colloquial. To strike the right note, your speechwriter should be able to listen attentively and use all the registers of language.

The rest is basically the tools of the trade: a logical and stringent structure, understandable language without complicated sentence constructions, a good beginning and a catchy conclusion, one or two suitable quotations –– and the speech is ready!
